It began as a dinner for twelve. Nobody planned a second one, but by the time dessert arrived, three people had already asked when it would be.

The next year we borrowed a bigger room and the year after that we stopped counting chairs. What never changed is the brief we set ourselves at that first table: good people, generous time, and no talk that couldn’t survive a follow-up question.
